Startling moments

The pieces from the "Startling moments" series are capturing a state of breathless reality, fear, and a perhaps contradicting and simultaneous desire to let go, to fall, sensations felt in times of change and loss of security.

For the pieces I am using photographs of the steep precipices of Capri, Italy, an island of paradisian beauty. The ubiquitous danger of slipping, falling, is alarming, though at the very same time powerfully seductive. It is no wonder the island is affectionately also called "the island of love," as it itself evokes the very feelings of romantic infatuation-fear and desire.
